About BMI Calculator
BMI Calculator is a free consumer health tool. It computes Body Mass Index from your height and weight, and publishes plain-language guidance on what that number means — with unusual emphasis on what it does not mean, because that is where most BMI content lets people down.
Who publishes this site
This site is published by M4Quick Studios LLC, an independent digital studio. It is not operated by, funded by, or affiliated with any pharmaceutical manufacturer, supplement brand, clinic or weight-loss programme. We do not sell supplements, meal plans, consultations or subscriptions.
What we are — and what we are not
- Our health content is reviewed by a dietitian on our staff. Nutrition and weight guidance is a dietitian's field, and the pages they review carry a green banner saying so.
- We employ no doctor or nurse. Diagnosis, medication and clinical management are outside what we can responsibly review, and we do not pretend otherwise.
- We will not blanket-badge the site. Stamping "medically reviewed" on everything would be easy and untrue. The banner appears only where a dietitian genuinely reviewed the content.
- We do not give individual advice. We cannot tell you whether your weight is a problem, what your BMI means for you, or what you should do about it. That needs someone who can see your history.
- What we do is apply the standard formula correctly, summarise authoritative guidance in plain language, show our sources, and be explicit about the limits of the measure.
The short version
BMI is a screening signal, not a verdict. Use this site to understand it well enough to have a better conversation with your provider — not to replace one.
Our editorial policy
- Sources are public and authoritative — CDC, NIH and NIDDK, WHO, MedlinePlus and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Each content page lists its sources.
- We show the formula. You should be able to check our arithmetic, and on understanding BMI you can.
- We lead with the limitations. A BMI figure that misclassifies a muscular person is not a footnote; it is central to using the measure honestly, so we put it near the top rather than the bottom.
- Pages carry a review date and status. Every content page shows when it was last reviewed and whether a dietitian reviewed it.
- Review is scoped. Our dietitian reviews nutrition and weight guidance. They do not review, and are not represented as reviewing, medical diagnosis or treatment.
- We correct errors. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
How this site is funded
- Advertising. This site displays third-party ads. Advertisers have no input into our content and no advance sight of it.
- Affiliate links. Some product links may be affiliate links, earning us a small commission at no additional cost to you. They appear only where genuinely relevant, and never determine what we recommend.
- No industry funding. We accept no money, product or sponsored content from supplement brands, clinics or pharmaceutical companies. We are also not in a position to be tempted by weight-loss product advertising revenue into softening what we say about weight-loss products — which is why the healthy weight page says plainly that fat-burning supplements do not work.
Our calculator and your data
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your height and weight are used to do the arithmetic on your own device and are never transmitted to us, never stored and never logged. Closing the page discards them.
Contact and corrections
Corrections are the most useful message we receive. See our contact page.
